Abstract:
This paper deals with the problems in the core retail banking services with reference to the client’s costs (the fees paid for using retail products). The paper also elaborates on the problems with the general non-transparency of bank tariffs. This paper introduces the CSB calculator project. The CSB calculator project is based on an analysis of 45 account products in the Czech Republic. In this study, Client and Bank indexes which represent price levels of the core banking services are used in the analysis. The aim of the paper is to emphasize the need for a continuous process of keeping oneself informed about the actual charges on bank accounts that are currently active. The paper concludes by outlining ways on how clients can be effectively informed about the current trends of the products in the core retail banking services.
